Road Freight from Europe to Ukraine
Trans-Hope organizes road transport of commercial cargo from European countries to Ukraine for legal entities and sole proprietors — from selecting the truck to customs clearance and door delivery in Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv and Dnipro. Road transport is the most flexible way to deliver from the EU: it suits both full loads and small batches, works door-to-door and needs no port transshipment. It is part of the broader cargo delivery from Europe service.
When road transport from Europe is chosen
Road is chosen when route flexibility and direct delivery to the consignee's warehouse matter, without sea transshipment.
- any volume — from a pallet to a full truck;
- door-to-door delivery without extra handling;
- wide geography — Poland, Germany, Italy, Czechia, the Baltics and more;
- different body types for the type of cargo;
- predictable timelines on short and medium legs.
LTL or FTL — which to choose
Road transport runs in one of two modes, and the choice affects the price and the time.
| Parameter | LTL (groupage) | FTL (full truck) |
|---|---|---|
| Loading | Cargo travels with others on the scheduled run | The whole truck for one shipper |
| Price | Lower — you pay for part of the truck | Higher — the whole truck is paid for |
| Timeline | Longer — by schedule and with intermediate drop-offs | Faster — direct |
| Space guarantee | Subject to space on the run | The truck is entirely yours |
| Who it suits | Small batches, time to spare | Large volume or urgency |
In practice groupage and a full truck are selected by volume and timeline: the modes are covered in detail by groupage cargo (LTL) and a full truck (FTL).
Body types: tilt, reefer, isotherm
The body is selected for the type of cargo. A tilt (curtain-side) is the universal option for most general cargo with side and top loading. A reefer is for temperature-controlled cargo — it is covered by reefer road freight. An isotherm is for cargo that needs protection from temperature swings without active cooling.
Standard euro truck parameters
A standard euro truck (tilt) holds about 82–92 m³ of cargo at a payload of 20–24 tonnes and 33 euro pallets sized 1200×800 mm; the internal body dimensions are about 13.6 × 2.45 × 2.45 m. For cargo that exceeds standard dimensions or the permitted weight, special transport is used — this is oversized and heavy road freight.
Transit times from European countries
The time depends on the country of departure, the mode (LTL/FTL) and the border load. The benchmark is 5 to 14 days: from Poland and the Baltics it is faster, from Spain and Portugal it takes longer. A full truck runs directly and is usually faster than a groupage run.
What the cost depends on
The price of road delivery depends on the country and distance, the weight and volume (the greater of the two is charged), the LTL/FTL mode, the body type, fuel, border delays and the season. A detailed breakdown of the factors is in the cost of road delivery from Europe.
Documents and customs clearance
International road transport needs shipping documents: a CMR waybill, invoice, packing list and a foreign-trade contract. The list is covered by documents for international road transport, and the clearance of road cargo and transit is handled by customs clearance of road cargo.
