Foreign trade analysis and optimal schemes
The same shipment can be cleared in different ways — and the difference in payments and timing can be substantial. We analyze the foreign trade operation and build an optimal scheme: customs regime, delivery terms, route and documents — so that costs are minimal within the law. The service is for companies and sole proprietors across Ukraine — Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro.
What analysis of a foreign trade operation is
Foreign trade analysis is the breakdown of a specific deal by all the factors that affect its cost: goods code, customs value, duty and VAT rates, regime, route, delivery terms. Then the option that gives the best result in price and timing is chosen. This is a step before the shipment, not after it.
Choosing the customs regime
Ukraine has 15 customs regimes, and the choice of regime determines when and how much to pay. For some operations ordinary import is suitable, for others — a customs warehouse, processing or temporary admission.
| Regime | When it is advantageous |
|---|---|
| Import | Goods stay in Ukraine, payments at once |
| Customs warehouse | Deferral of payments until release |
| Processing | Raw materials imported for processing and export |
| Temporary admission | Goods return, conditional relief |
Incoterms and cost distribution
Incoterms delivery terms determine who pays for transport, insurance and customs and up to what point. They affect the customs value and therefore the amount of payments. A correctly chosen delivery basis removes unnecessary costs and disputes with the counterparty.
Preferences by origin
If goods originate from a country with which Ukraine has a trade agreement, the duty may be reduced or zeroed. This requires confirmation of origin and direct delivery. The paperwork is handled by a certificate of origin, and the benefit of the preference is shown by the calculation of customs payments.
Customs value and goods code
Two key payment parameters are the UKT ZED code (determines the rate) and the customs value (the basis of assessment). An error in the code leads to overpayment or fines. So the UKT ZED code selection is the basis of any scheme.
Deferral of payments: customs warehouse
If goods are sold gradually or await documents, they can be placed in a customs warehouse and duty and VAT paid as batches are released. This frees up working capital and defers payments without violations.
Legal optimization, not grey schemes
Optimization works only within the law: the correct code, accurate value, legal preferences and regimes. Understating value or incorrect classification is not optimization but a risk of fines and adjustments. We build schemes that withstand inspection.
How we build the scheme

Data collectionWe study the goods, route, counterparties and purpose of the deal.
-
Analysis of optionsWe compare regimes, Incoterms, preferences and routes.
-
Scheme and calculationWe propose the optimal option with a calculation of payments and timing.
